God has plans

We all can use a little good news every now and then, I know my sister, and a good friend and I sure could. We are in the process of closing down our retail store. We opened up a Catholic Gift shop in a little town called Plymouth.

The shop was cute and offered books, CD’s DVD’s and gift item, we where really proud of it, but the costumers we had just where not enough to support our month bills. We have remained open for over 18 month, when in reality we should have closed about 6 month ago. But we kept the faith, and remained open longer then we should have and now we have to go through the hard and painful process of closing the shop.

It’s a lot like a death in the family; there is a morning process we all are going through. Some days I feel ok about it, knowing that its time has come, and other days I am really depressed about it. But I know we are doing the right thing. It’s time has come.

There are seasons for everything, and it appears that this is not the season for us to open a retail shop. We hoped and prayed it was but, as it turns out, it is not.

We know God has plans for us, we know he wants us to serve him, but the question is how, how do we serve him, where do we serve him and when? All questions we all have had at sometime in our lives.

God works on his own timeline, and sometime we just have no idea what that timeline is, well most of the time we don’t know, we just go through life praying for some kind of direction.

The road to God in not an easy one, we always have to deal with a fork in the road, and a decision must be made, do we go left or right? Sometimes the fork is wide and the decision is easy, but most of the time it is a very narrow fork, and each path offers something, or so we think.

I believe that most of the time we choose the wrong path, we look at things through the eyes of a fallen race, so our view is skewed. We see things a little differently then God does. He has a way of seeing things in the light of truth, where as we see things in the light of humanity. And as we all know humanity does not always se things clearly.

But I have not given up hope, because when I do choose the wrong path, God always gives me the option to re-choose, it may be a little way down the road, or it may be miles away, but he always offers my the change to walk down the road to him.

Now all I got to do is figure out what road that is.

Walk with God daily, and walk with God humbly and all will turn out ok in the end. It won’t be easy, and it may take you longer then the quick path of humanity, but God will provide you with the courage and strength you need, if you only allow him to.

The Holy Spirit will be your guide, and show you the way, and Jesus will carry our load and lighten your burden, if you only allow it.

But we all too often do not listen; we ignore the signs, and choose to do it our way, leaving God on the side of the road.

I do not believe that is what we did with our shop, not totally any way. But I do believe that somewhere along the way we decided to take the wrong path, turned left when where to go right.

I don’t believe that God is punishing us, but I do believe he is correcting our wrong move, he is letting us choose, once again, the path we will take, and in someway, he is preparing us for bigger and greater things. But God being God, he has failed to tell us, or more likely we have failed to hear him, what the bigger and better thing is.

So we all will continue to walk on the path, trying to find our way, and with the help of the Holy Spirit, we will.

Paul
