Occupy Wall Street and the Founding Fathers

363882969

The new movement, Occupy Wall Street (OWS), is interesting, not because I agree with them, I don’t. I happen to like money and capitalism, I find that working and having money is a good thing, no it’s interesting because of the contrast between them and the Tea Party people…. Now, I have not taken part in any Tea Party Protest, I wanted to, but was unable to do so, but had friends who did attend. The words they used to describe it:

  • Peaceful
  • Clean
  • Respectful
  • Patriotic
  • American
  • Constitutional

With OWS I hear the following:

  • Disorganized
  • Mob
  • Rude
  • Demoralizing
  • Woodstockish (due to the nudity and open sex)

Never once have I heard anyone associated with OWS mention the constitution or be able to talk with out using the F-bomb at least 50 times in a 2 seconded statement.

A big difference…

The Tea Party is truly going back to our American roots. The founding Fathers, for the most part, did not want a war with England, they wanted peace and stability. They wanted to remain English subjects not succeed and form a new nation. They just wanted the basic freedoms and rights afforded to every citizen of Britain. War and violence was a last resort, one many did not want nor agreed with the option of war. There were some who were willing to wait a a little longer, thank God the Founding Fathers did not…

Leading up to the American Revolution were a series of actions, protest and other political decent. including but not limited to:

  • Letters to the editors
  • Political books
  • Political pamphlets
  • Peaceful protest
  • Town Hall meetings
  • Letters to the King of England
  • Letters to fellow statesmen
  • Letters to Parliament

Each activity was designed to sway hearts and minds, not force them through violence. The Founding Fathers used logic and history to make there arguments, not utopian feelings and dreams. They were realistic in there views on politics and the world around them. They wrote letters to sway public opinion and denounced violence.

When Alexander Hamilton ordered the burning of a British merchant ship in protest to British Taxation on tea, he first ordered all the cargo and ship hands off and onto dry land, placed the ship out of port and than set her on fire. The message was simple and clear, we oppose taxation with out representation. But we do not wish to harm. When the Boston Tea Party (the original one) took place there was to me no violence, it was to be a peaceful protest. The same can be said about the New Tea Party, but not the OWS crowed, they are calling for violence, they are advocating it and directing it.

Over the past few days I have heard about:

  • Condoms being passed out (what does this have to do with Wall Street?)
  • Sex in the open
  • Anti-Semitic statements
  • Illegal Protesting (no permit)
  • Illegal camping (no permit)
  • Relieving one self in public
  • Trashing protest grounds and not cleaning up after themselves
  • Threating to hack into Wall Street computers

Does not sound like something the Founding Fathers would have advocated. Don’t believe me, read Thomas Pain’s writings or any of the other Founding Fathers. Violence was a last resort, they wanted to use the system to fix the system. The Tea Party of today wishes to do the same, they want to use the power of public opinion and the voice of vote to change they system, not the threat of violence or the rule of the mob.

If the OWS crowd really want to make a difference, go and occupy 1600 Pennsylvania Ave,  pitch you tent there, relieve yourself on Obamas front lawn and have your sex there. Wall Street is not the issue, failed government is. And yes, not just Obamas failed government, but government in general has failed. Bush did a few stupid moved in his tenure as President also. The failure of the Government has been a long time in the works.

"I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve."

~Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto referring to Pearl Harbor

spiritof76-1The American Spirit is strong and resolute, she is the spirit of Washington and Adams, a spirit that fights for freedoms and liberty and allows for the pursuit of happiness. The Tea Party flows with this spirit swelling and growing and changing the course of America returning Her to he roots. The OWS spirit is spiteful and derogatory in nature, perverting the Founding Fathers into grotesque caricatures of themselves. The sleeping giant has awoken and will be heard, yet he will not speak through the Occupy Wall Street protect, for there is no room for her amongst all the hatred and violence, for the American Giant Admiral Yamamoto was referring to was a reluctant warrior, one dedicated to peace and freedom, one slow to anger yet resolved in her defense.

Ring in the New Year with the good ol’ Bush Tax Cuts

A lot of press has been used on the Bush Tax Cuts, they were set to expire today. The liberals rang out with the same old “Cut’s for the rich” mantra, yet if you took the time to read the facts you would see that this is just not true. The Bush Tax Cuts did shift the burden of taxes, but not to the poor like many liberals would claim, but to the rich.

  • In 2002 the latest year of available data, the top 5 percent of taxpayers paid more than one-half (53.8 percent) of all individual income taxes, but reported roughly one-third (30.6 percent) of income.
  • The share of taxes paid by the bottom 50 percent of taxpayers will fall from 4.1 percent to 3.6 percent.Source: U.S. Treasury, Office of Tax Analysis (read article here)

I get so frustrated when I try to have conversations with the liberals about the tax cuts. There are two main points that upset me the most. The first is just the simple fact that the argument that the tax cuts hurt the poor and make the rich richer… The facts just don’t prove it, as the two bullet points above show. It is just an out-and-out lie. Yet the media and liberals keep saying it. And many just keep believing it.  The first argument is fact, the second argument is not.

The second argument is based on ideology. The liberal ideology goes something like this:

It is wrong for people to make more money then others, it is unfair that there hard work should be rewarded off the back of their workers.

There are several variations of that ideology, but the basics are all the same, it is unfair…. What is unfair? Is it unfair if one baseball team earns more on ticket sales than an other? Is it unfair if one CEO makes less than another? Is it unfair if one child gets an “A” on their report card and others only get “C”s? Fairness has nothing to do with equality. A baseball game is fair when all the rules are the same, a grade a student receives is fair when each student is afforded the same opportunity to receive an “A”. (Fairness)

the other part of the argument is based on the idea of “To Much”:

They just earn too much, the profits that company made is grotesque.

Who determines what is too much and what is not? What is the standard that is used? Does the scale change based on were you live, the size of your family or the type of work you do? Or is it just a value the liberals toss out when every they want to rally the troops?

At my place of work we have one benefit that was not removed from us that most other companies have, free coffee. Yep, I can drink all the free coffee, tea or hot coco I want and they provide free filtered water. Too some this may seem a bit silly to even bring it up, but trust me I have a point. At my place of employment we also receive bonuses every quarter and they just placed a ping-pong table in an old unused classroom. So yes, my company tries to make the work environment fun and relaxing. Now I do drink the coffee and get the bonus, but I do not use the ping-pong table. Such is life, I don’t play ping-pong. Now if it was an air hockey table I would be in their playing, but it’s not so I don’t.

So what does all this have to do with fairness and the bush tax cuts… I’ll tell you, I work with a young man who sees the free coffee as unfair, he don’t drink it, and there for he gains no benefit from it. In-fact he sees it as a loss to his bonus. Yet he does play ping-pong and see nothing wrong with that. Now some may think he has a point, the coffee has to be replenished yet the ping-pong table is a one time fee. Yep, he tried that one on me, and he is correct, it is a one time fee for the table, but the room it takes up, the old classroom, does cost the company each and every month in rent. I am willing to be the rooms rent is more than the coffee per month.

You see, fairness to him, was only what he thought effected him negatively, when I brought up the fact that the room rent was more than the coffee, well lets just say he decided he was only “joking” about the coffee. If that is true, that was the longest joke I have ever heard, because we have worked together for over 8 years and for most of the 8 years he was complaining about the “fairness” of free coffee. Now I don’t hear that so much. Hmmm, interesting isn’t it…

The two arguments that the liberals use to scare people about the Bush Tax Cuts are nothing but lies and a screwed up definition of fairness… All will benefit from the extension of the Bush Tax Cuts, yes the poor as well as the rich.  The liberals need to stick to the truth, they need to base there fights on facts, not on their own skewed view of the world. Fairness and equality are not the same thing, It is fair to offer all the same chances to achieve wealth in this great nation of ours, but the results will not, and should not, be equal. Some will work harder than others to achieve wealth, and yes some will just have dumb luck and stumble in to it. Me, I say “God bless them all” and “Good Luck”. And yet others will work just has hard and achieve nothing and some will lose it all. To them I say “God Bless” and “Keep working at it”. Is that fair? Nope it’s not, but such is life, was that equality at work, Yep it sure was, each and every one of us has the opportunity to achieve greatness, yes some of us may have to work harder than others to achieve it, be we all have the same opportunity to pursue happiness, that does not mean we will all arrive at it.

So may this New Year bring you all the opportunity to achieve greatness, and may you, be it through hard work or just dumb luck, find it.

    Destiny in a Flux

Statue of Liberty National Monument, Ellis Isl...

    Image via Wikipedia

Yesterday was Fathers Day, so to all the dad’s Happy Fathers Day! The word dad is a lot larger than the 3 letters that make it up, the word dad encompasses a whole concept and radical idea, or at least in today’s world it seems radical. As of late the media has been hot and heavy on the idea of downplaying the rolls of dad’s in the family life. their have been several articles published about how the man is not a necessary part of family life, and some that have even gone so far as to state that the dad is a detriment to the family. Now I will admit that most have been written by anti-male femi-Nazi’s but still the media has taken and run with it. They have published the reports as if they came from God Himself. They have done what I expected them to do, they have taken an extreme liberal point of view, regardless of the facts, and have pushed it on the collective American conscience as a fact, using political correctness and guilt as its main arguments.

The basic idea of life with out men is not a new one, we saw this in the 60’s and 70’s when the bra burning femi-Nazi’s where in there hey-day, when everyone was all about equality of the female with no regards to the actual differences. We experimented with this with the gender neutral toys and the striping of masculinity from the male species.  They have called murder reproduction rights and sexual deviances as lifestyle choices and have forced their point of view upon us as acceptance or die.

The attacks from the left are nothing new, but to me it seems that with the Obama era in play they have stepped up there attacks, become bolder and more outspoken. they use to hide behind what seemed like sound and sensible laws or ideas, but now the are open and bold about the anti-American and anti-God speak. They boldly claim the truth of there ideas as what they are, and the media eats it up.

It is a sad day when a society can rationalize the uselessness of men in the family life. When we can determine that a male is not necessary and is considered a detriment to the over all health of the family unit. They have or are trying to reduce the male to noting more than a sperm donor an object to be used and than discarded. They have, in their minds, reduced masculinity to a negative attribute, and elevated the femi-Nazi to a status of exalted. It is a sad and sick world when we allow the destruction of manhood.

The next target will be children, they will find a study or create a study that shows having children are a detriment to your health and lifestyle, oh wait, never mind, they already did this and won, it’s call abortion. How can one gender, regardless of sexual orientation, honestly think that the male is, well frankly, disposable? Just basic genetics tell you that a male is needed to keep the human race going. Well unless they have discovered away to reproduce with out the help of a male. Maybe they have uncovered the secret of the A-sexual life style… Who knows…

What I do know is that God created man and woman and it was very good. I do know that as of this point in history it takes one of each to make a new one and I also know that all studies, legitimate studies, prove that a complete traditional family is the best.

Maybe I am over reacting, but I don’t think so, the Obama generation is one hell bent on destroying the fabric of this nation, and now that they have their supreme leader in power they will stop at nothing, not even the truth or real facts will get in their way. They are a frights train on a collision course with destiny, a destiny that is in a flux at the moment.

    Destiny in a Flux

What flux is destiny in? And who’s destiny am I talking about?

Second question first, I am referring to the American destiny, our collective destiny, the one that ties us all together as one nation, one people. The same destiny that lead to the discovery of the Americas, to the fight for independence and the beacon of freedom to the world.  A destiny that defines us all as Americans the very same destiny that forged this great nation and created the land of liberty. They very destiny that the Statue of Liberty solutes each and everyday, and the very destiny that millions of refuges seek-out and risk life and limb for daily.

As for the first question, the flux is a paradigm shift of epic size and repercussions. The very fabric of this nation, the fabric that was sown with the treads of Christianity and liberty are being tugged and pulled, the fray is growing and the tear is increasing. The fabric that created the patchwork of America, with its many cultures and distinct interpretations of Her inhabitance is being bleached and patched over with a square of generic color, creating a quilt with no distention, yet all the time the battle cry of diversity is yelped from the hilltops. The flux is increasing its scope and range to now include the masculinity of humanity, relying on only the femininity of creation.

The modern cry of “I am woman, hear me roar” has been changed to “I am woman, no one else matters”.  And the established media seems to be accepting this, more than just acceptance but more of a wholesale purchase of it. And they are more than willing to give out for free to the general public! This sickens me!

The ability for the minority left to gain so much press attention with non-truths and out and out lies never ceases to amaze me. The left has mastered the art of deception to the point of not recognizing the facts or truths of the issues. The lies become reality to the ones who tell the lie enough times. The mantra becomes the common place among the norm of the nation. Yet if the left were to take a true pulse of this nation they would find a very different reality. They would find a reality centered in the Christian tradition with right of center views. Yet they seem to miss this in all the research and reports they produce. the left is an a reality that is all there own. The flux in the forced shit the current administration and his cohorts are forcing upon the American public!

God willing, come this November we will have the courage to take back our country, remove t
he blinders of a Utopia and once again allow America to be who She is distend to be, a leader in the universe who stands for liberty and justice, one who will fight for the freedom of nations and the pursuit of happiness. One where men are not marginalized and where the most vulnerable do not have to fear for there little live before they can even see it.

The reality is simple, if we continue down this road we will not have to concern ourselves with outside terrorist, the femi-Nazis will take care of it all for them.

    Did Jesus get sick

WALTHAM ABBEY, UNITED KINGDOM - APRIL 04: Jac...

Today is a day I wish I was home, I don’t feel to well, I am getting sick. And of course today is also a day I have to teach for 8 hours… 6 of those 8 hours are pure lecture… What joy.

I love teaching, I get a natural high from it, but when I am sick, I hate it, all I want to do is crawl off to bed or to sit on the couch and watch TV or old movies.

But being sick did bring to mind a question… Did Jesus ever have a cold or the flu? Did Jesus get sick?

Odd question I know, but that’s what popped into my head as I sat down to write this blog. In truth we do not know, the bible gives us no clue to this. The omission of the fact is not a statement of Jesus never got sick. The bible also never states that Jesus went to the bathroom, but we know he must have. So did Jesus get sick?

Some would say no, that Jesus could not have gotten sick because sickness was due to our sin and Jesus never sinned. That prior to Adam and Eve eating of the tree and sinning, humanity knew not of sickness. That it is a punishment for mankind’s sins.

Others would argue that if Jesus was to truly be human he would have had to have had a cold or at least a sniffles, That illness is a part of life, and for Jesus to be truly human sickness would have been part of that. Sinless or not, Jesus would have had a cold sometime in his life, most likely as a child.

Both, too me, are good arguments, and both, too me, can be right. I really don’t know were I fall on this one. The theological part of me states the sickness is due to sin, Jesus did not sin therefore Jesus could not have gotten sick. But the human part of me states that if Jesus was truly human than he would have to totally understand humanity and that includes getting a cold.

This debate can back and forth all day long, and in truth I don’t think it can ever be resolved. But I just thought it was an interesting question.

    Can God Sin?

    Question for you:

    Can God Sin?

Seems like a silly question, and in away it is, but it is a question that a friend and I were talking about a week or so ago, and it hasn’t left me so I thought I would talk about it here. Once again the question is “Can God sin?”. Think about it, God is the creator of everything, He created the heavens and the earth, all living things and the space between them. He created out of himself all that we see and feel. But can God sin?

At the outset I think most of us would say yes, God can sin, but chooses not to. This may be true, but I would think not.  Well wait, first lets look at what sin is. Sin in offending God, Can God offend himself? Can God of love a God of creation truly sin? Can God create something he is not? God is not hate so can God create hate? God is not selfish nor is he a murderer so can God create such creatures?

Some would say yes, just look around, others would say no that God did not create the evil but he does allow it, out of our own free will we have created it, Others would argue that the simple fact that God did allow us to create it, and the simple fact that we are created in his image, thus God created the evil, albeit not directly but indirectly by creating the human, and allowing that human to fail. Yet others would say god can do as God wishes. All are valid arguments in one way or another, but I think all fail to truly understand God. I do not presume to think that I understand God, I have a hard enough time understanding the teen that lives in my house and as complex a creation a teen is, it does not even begin to compare to the complexity that is God.

I would think that if we took all the concepts and responses listed here and the ones in your own mind, mixed them up a bit and allowed lots of time for prayer, we may get a tad bit closer to an answer, but I doubt if we will ever know… What think you?

    Seed Sowers

YES Magazine Spring 2009 :: Food for EveryoneI read an interesting article this weekend in a magazine called yes!, just to give you a little back ground I ordered a free sample of this liberal magazine, I like to read all sorts of stuff, you never know what you will learn. Anyway back to the topic of this blog, the article I read was on getting back to the basics of farming, no more genetically altered seeds, no more hormone injected cows, back t the way God created it all to start with. Now I for one am for all this, I agree that it should be back to basics, and the arguments they used backed this concept up solidly. Now if we stop and think about it, the left wing liberal idea of back to basics really would be a right wing conservative idea, but that’s for another blog.

The article was well written and presented the facts, leaving out unnecessary political commentary, so i was very pleased. It got me thinking of tons of ways this could be used to build community in a parish, for example you could set aside a plot of parish land for a parish garden where veggies could be grown and given to the parishioners and needy of the community or have a farmers market on the weekends. this would give the parish on opportunity to invite non-parish members in to the parish for a weekend mass. The ideas are plenty, and each would truly be getting back to the basics.

What is more basic than a community growing food together? Teaching our youth how to farm the land, well in truth teaching the city folk adults as well. Setting up a parish food bank to help support the needs of the community, and eating fresh grown veggies that you had a hand in growing. The basics!

I was tempted to bring this up to my parish, but knowing how the powers that be operate I decided that I had better things to do than to hit my head on the wall one more time. The idea of back to basics to them would be to shut the doors at 4:30 and have nothing going on in the parish after hours. So for me to even bring up such an idea would be out of the question.

But the idea still has merit, and it is one I would love to see, a new ministry called seed sowers, of course taken from the parable of the sower of seeds. So who knows, maybe this blog will inspire other parishes and churches to plant a community garden, one worked by all, young and old. Maybe they will use it as an educational tool as well as a community service. Who knows maybe this will inspire someone to create greatness with in there community, and with in there hearts and souls. Happy planting everyone!
