A fantastic post by a good friend…..
These are my thoughts…
…shared mostly so you can understand where I am coming from, even if you disagree with me.
It is 11:47 pm right now and I should be sleeping. I should be sleeping but I am unable to. One hour ago, it appeared that the current president was going to win his bid for re-election. One hour ago, I walked into our family room and asked my husband to come join me in our room and hold me until I fell asleep. He fell asleep firs…(typical)
I asked him to come hold me because I am scared. Here is the thing, I know I have a lot of friends who voted for ‘the other guy’ and I know that tonight is a night of celebration for you. I know you will be happy and think that you have reached a level of success. I know you are certain that something better has happened for our country. I know you are confident that you can believe in the change that you are striving for. And finally, I know that you don’t quite know why people like me are so scared. I thought I would let you know why. Because here is the thing, understanding where the ‘other’ is coming from is a good thing. I want to help you understand…. (To Keep reading, select here)

Dear Catholics:
This Open letter it to all Catholics, be they liberal or conservative, laps or practicing, fallen away or on their way back home to Rome. In-fact this open letter should be shared with non-Catholics, non-Christians and anyone who is concerned about their personal liberty and freedom. This letter is intended to excite you, motivate you and call you to action. This letter is a letter of protest and a letter of compassion; it is written from my heart and shared with the world. It will, undoubtably contain miss-spellings, bad punctuation and grammatical errors. However, what it will not contain is false emotions and lack of integrity. It will be heartfelt and passionate, it will be my personal views and my faith presented for you and for all.
Revelation 3:16
So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
The above quote is the foundation upon I build my letter. The words of St. John in the book of Revelation needs to be in our hearts and on our minds as we read this letter and internalized. It is the basis of all that I have to say concerning the current state of anti-Catholic, anti-liberty rhetoric coming from Washington DC.
The Obama administration continues their attack on Liberty and Freedom; they continue to erode our rights to religious freedom. The latest being their insistence that Catholic Institutions abandon their core beliefs and offer healthcare benefits that cover birth control, sterilization and abortion causing drugs. This is a direct act against our religious freedom and anti-American. (Source)
We, as Americans, as Catholics as a freedom loving people must stand up, speak out and protest this act of religious bigotry. We, as Catholics, are called to do so, by our very baptism, we have been given the responsibility to stand up for and defend our faith and our Church. Yet, all too often, we fail to do so. If we remain still and quiet the Obama Administration will win, not just the healthcare debate, but even more importantly they
will the war he and his administration has waged against religious freedoms.
Our right as Americans and our obligations as Catholics are being challenged and we must respond, and we must respond loudly and boldly. This administration is forcing Catholic Charities, Hospitals and Schools to support and pay for treatments that are counter to our faith, counter to our faith structure. This should shock all Americans, not just Catholics. This is an attack on all Freedoms, not just Religious Freedoms. The Founding Fathers would be shocked to their core and the call for Revolution would once again be heard over this great land. The Founding Fathers fought for Freedom and Liberty, the ability for people to choose their Faith and practices it as seen fit by the faith. They fought for less government and more personal responsibility, not for Big Brother and Government intervention into our daily lives. Healthcare is a personal responsibility and one that the government should not be involved in, but that will be saved for another time. Back to this open letter and the attack on our religious freedoms.
From Bishop Boyea of the Lansing Diocese
Diocese of Lansing Responds to HHS Mandate
These past days have seen a grave error on the part of the federal government, as well as a blessed response from Catholics all across this great state and nation.
By now, all men and women of faith know that the United States Department of Health and Human Services has declared that health benefit plans must include coverage for sterilization, contraception, and abortion-inducing drugs. This unconstitutional and unconscionable mandate is to take effect in stages during 2012 and 2013.
The Catholic Church in the United States will never comply with this mandate. Told that the federal government has allowed a one-year grace period during which the Church can adjust itself to this mandate, Cardinal-designate Timothy Dolan of the Archdiocese of New York responded that the Church does not need a year to determine whether it would comply. He is right. In offering this supposed mandate, the federal government misreads the Constitution of the United States. It equally misreads the determination of Catholics.
This nation is built upon the three-legged stool of the First Amendment. Our precious freedoms of religion, speech, and assembly underlie everything this nation is, and everything this nation has ever accomplished. Religious liberty gives the freedom to preach the Truth. And the truth is that pregnancy is not a disease. Nor is the natural fertility of a woman a disease.
Through the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Michigan Catholic Conference, we are exploring a number of options, including litigation and Congressional reform. As these efforts move forward, Catholics should make clear to their elected officials the crucial importance of religious liberty, and they should pray daily for those who have the responsibility for making these decisions.(Source)
God Bless Bishop Boyea for his strong stance, he truly is a Sheppard of his flock, and I for one am proud to know he is in Michigan and at one time was part of the Archdiocese of Detroit. He speaks boldly and strongly, and his statement should be ours, we, as Catholics, will never comply with this mandate. We need to refuse, to protest and to vote with our Catholic heart and sensibility. We need to let Obama and his administration that he cannot, that no politician can dictate the pillars of our faith, that no mortal man can overturn the laws of God! We will not stand for this and we will, we must, fight back!
It is not only Conservatives or Republicans that should be upset, but Liberals and Democrats, this is not going to stop, the power grab will continue if it is not revered. We will see more laws; more directives infringing upon our Liberates and Freedoms enter into the cause of fairness and equality. The forced secularization of Catholic institutions is neither fair nor equal; it is tyranny in its infancy. It is socialism at its birth and will continue to grow unless we, as Americans, stand and fight! It is time that we rejuvenate our revolutionary hearts and stand for what is right.
Please do not miss understand me here, I am not talking about bloodshed, but I am talking about revolution, a change in the current regime and a return to Liberty and the Constitution. This Administration has trampled this document more than any other has; they have no respect for the Founders and see the Constitution as outdated and in-need of an update, The Constitution 2.0, if you will. Obama himself has stated this:
The President said,”…our Founders designed a system that makes it more difficult to bring about change than I would like sometimes.” (Source)
Really, the system Obama is referring to is outlined and detailed in the Constitution… Hmm, How dare the Founders limit King Obama’s power to force his radical and leftist views upon Americans. That is exactly what he is doing with the contraceptive healthcare law being enforced upon Catholics. I know some Liberals and pro-abortionist are hailing this as a victory. However, they should be careful not to celebrate too much, because soon the heavy hand of tyranny will crush your freedoms and liberties, as it is ours. Hold your convictions tight, as Americans; we have the right to do so, and an obligation to defend them. However, be careful and de diligent, the road to socialism is paved with many tempting things. Such as forcing all to accept, for the betterment of all, abortion, birth control and serialization. It promises a nation with “free” healthcare and equality that is not only protected by the government but also guaranteed. The temptations of Utopia are many and they shine and glimmer of in the distance, just like fools gold below the waters of injustice. We all want Equality and Liberty, we all strive for Freedom and Fairness, but as we quest for and search for this Utopia, this perfection of Government and men, we often times forget the men to whom we are governing. Our Nation was designed with one concept in mind, that it is man who gives government its power, not government who gives man its Freedoms. We, as a Nation allow the Federal Government the power to withhold Liberties and Freedoms as a payment for protection of our Liberties and Freedoms. We give them the power, not the other way around. Yet they seem to see it differently, The Obama administration seems to see it as they grant us our Freedoms and Liberties, and in doing so, they rightly feel they have the power to remove, to hold ransom, our Liberties and Freedoms. As long as we allow them to feel this way, as long as we do not stand and fight for our Freedoms and Liberties, they will continue to act as if they have the power over us, and not as our Founding Fathers intended, we have the power of them. It is our Government, we created it and we can destroy it or we can restore it! What will it be? This is a defining moment in our history; this is a turning point for our Great Nation. How will we react?
Revelation 3:16
So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
I for one am going to stand and Fight!
God Bless

The Christmas session is over, and the decorations are down, now starts the political session… Over the weekend I watched the ABC GOP Debates, if you can call them that. I was so mad that I found it hard to watch. The moderators were, well to put it simply, STUPID. They asked stupid questions, has stupid follow-ups and acted just plain stupid. George Stephanopoulos was the biggest idiot of them all (Drudge Report). But none of them should be proud of themselves.
The best moment for me, Newt’s monolog on the Catholic Church:
“I just want to raise, since we just spent this much time on these issues, I just want to raise a point about the news media bias. You don’t hear the opposite question asked. Should the Catholic Church be forced to close its adoption services in Massachusetts because it won’t accept gay couples? Which is exactly what the state has done.”
He continued:
Should the Catholic Church be driven out of providing charitable services in the District of Columbia because it won’t give in to secular bigotry? Should the Catholic Church find itself discriminated against by the Obama administration in a key delivery of services because of the bias and the bigotry of the administration? The bigotry question goes both ways, and there’s a lot more anti-Christian bigotry today than there is concerning the other side, and none of it gets covered by the liberal media.
God Bless him, got to love it…. We need more Catholics in public office and in the public eye to be more like Newt, and stand up for our faith. I wanted to get in my car and drive out there to shake his hand, but living in Michigan that would have been hard to do. But boy did I want to….
It seems to me that people are afraid to stand up for the faith because they are afraid of being labeled politically incorrect. But really is it? Does being politically correct mean that you have to stop standing up for your faith, your beliefs? I don’t think so, to me that is being politically sterile, having no value system no moral ground to stand on. How can I take your view points about anything seriously if you are afraid to stand up for them? The liberals stand up for what they want, a society of drowns with no original though, but we conservatives do not, for the fear of being labeled!
We have allowed the politically correct crowed do exactly what they are supposed to be against, we have allowed them to marginalize us and label us. We have allowed them to force their belief upon us, all in the name of political correctness… Does that really make sense?
We, conservatives and Christians are the new fair game when it comes to bigotry and discrimination, and the worst part, its been institutionalized bout our governments and our Churches! I know that in the Catholic Church the political correctness thing has done damage to the faith. We have Bishops who support gay marriage, want social health care and believe abortion is ok… All in the name of not wanting to offend!
I have to say this, but Jesus offended people, He spoke the truth and sometimes that truth was offensive to people. He spoke load and bold on issues, regardless of the political correctness that others sought… I would think that Jesus offended quite a few when he over turned the money changing tables in the Temple:
Cleansing the Temple
12And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves. 13And He said to them, “It is written, ‘MY HOUSE SHALL BE CALLED A HOUSE OF PRAYER’; but you are making it a ROBBERS’ DEN.”
14And the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them. 15But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that He had done, and the children who were shouting in the temple, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they became indignant 16and said to Him, “Do You hear what these children are saying?” And Jesus said to them, “Yes; have you never read, ‘OUT OF THE MOUTH OF INFANTS AND NURSING BABIES YOU HAVE PREPARED PRAISE FOR YOURSELF’?” 17And He left them and went out of the city to Bethany, and spent the night there. (Matthew 21: 12-17)
In today’s world He would be arrested and the story would have been blasted all over the 24 hour news channels as an intolerant religious fool. Now, to be fair, Jesus was killed, but not for that, He was killed out of fear. The same fear that causes the liberals to do what they are doing now, the fear of Truth. The fear of being called to task, the fear of having to face the fact that you can not do as you please and that there is someone watching over you, someone greater than you, God.
Nope Newt did the right thing, he stood up, knowing it was on national TV, knowing people on the left will try to spin it, knowing it could hurt his run for the presidency, he stood up and proclaimed the truth… God Bless him! We need more like him, we need to do as he has done, and stand up and stop being politically streile.
God Bless

I love polls, the percentages and averages of things. That’s one reason I like to read TownHall magazine. In each and every issue they have polls. They give snapshots of how Americans are thinking at any given moment in time. In the January issue, that I was able to finish reading, thanks to my mini, yet unexpected vacation in Germany, I was able to read the polls. So I thought I would share a few with you in this posting.
(All poll results taken from TownHall January 2011 pg. 80: Rasmussen conducted the polls)
51% of Americans fear that the government will do to much to “help” the economy, 39% believe they will not do enough. And 10% have no clue.
Interesting given the rhetoric coming form the Obama administration, who feel that “Big Government” is the answer. Well it seems that Americans do not agree with Obama on this issue.
In another poll Americans were asked if the Government was currently operating with in the limits of the Constitution of the United Stated. 44% said no, 39% said yes and 17% have no idea what is happening to America or know what the Constitution is all about.
Interesting numbers, if you take the time to think about it. Nearly half of Americans feel the government is over stepping the powers granted to them by the people in the Constitution. 44% in no majority, but it is also no minority. Most Americans understand that our government is taking freedom from us, and giving power to themselves. Add to that that a majority, 51%, of Americans feel the government is doing to much the “help” the economy and we get a better over all picture of what we think of our current situation. Add to that the following facts:
66% of Americans fell the federal payroll should be cut by 10%, that’s just another way of saying Government is to big, we want and need a smaller, less intrusive government. Yet if we listen to the pundits on the left we would believe that Americans want more government oversight and intrusions into our daily lives.
How can the left media, politicians and just basic left leaning citizens continue to believe the lies they tell? I have heard many a great conservative radio host stating they believe that the left truly believe what they are saying, I find this hard to believe.
I have posted before about a leftist friend I have. One who believes in the “principles” of the left ideology, regardless of the facts. Over the years I have proven, with hard core facts, that the left hurts America, the the left hurts the minorities and the left is nothing but a cover up for a socialistic form of government, one set on taking freedom and retaining power. Yes she is on moved by this, she remains left.
Sure she will admit, if pushed in to a corner, that the social programs intended to help minorities, the poor or other left issues, ultimately end p hurting them, but remains committed to the “idea” of it all.
It is mind boggling that educated people can think that way. I just don’t get it.
If, for example, it is proven, with out a doubt, that conservatives give more time, money and even blood than liberals do, would you not as a liberal want to rethink your standing and belief that liberals are the “Party of compassion”? Logically that would make sense, but no, the left continues to lie about that, they continue to paint the Conservatives and money hungry anti-poor cruel, beat your kids kind of people. Yet the book “Who really Cares” proves, with out a doubt, that it is the Conservatives who gives more to charities, all types, donate more time at the soup kitchens and donates more blood to the red cross. And the truly interesting fact is this, the author was on a mission to prove that it was the LIBERALS who cared more. He was a liberal set out to undermine the conservatives, but the facts just would not work in his favor. Ultimately he had to do something that most liberals would never do, he had to print the truth. Yet my liberal friend, who read the book, agreed she was shocked, still stands by the bleeding heart mantra that conservatives are the enemy of the poor. Amazing!
I just don’t get it….
Truth be told, I don’t think the liberals really care about facts, facts only get in the way of total domination over the people. Facts are the enemy of the state, and liberals believe in the state as if the state was a god. So maybe that’s why I just don’t get it, because I believe the state is just a means for the people to govern themselves. I believe in the people, were as liberals believe in the state, the concept of Big Government, the nanny state who cares for you from birth (if you make it that far) till death.
I just love polls and facts, they are so interesting, even when I may not like the out comes. I will admit I have been taken back by a few polls that questioned my understanding or belief in something. And I will do more follow up research on the topic, and from time to time I have changed my views on certain topics. But over all, I find that most social and political polls reinforce my conservative point of view. And that makes since, considering that most Americans consider themselves to be conservative and pro-life.
Thus far in 2009, 40% of Americans interviewed in national Gallup Poll surveys describe their political views as conservative, 35% as moderate, and 21% as liberal. This represents a slight increase for conservatism in the U.S. since 2008, returning it to a level last seen in 2004. The 21% calling themselves liberal is in line with findings throughout this decade, but is up from the 1990s.

(source)
A new Gallup Poll, conducted May 7-10, finds 51% of Americans calling themselves "pro-life" on the issue of abortion and 42% "pro-choice." This is the first time a majority of U.S. adults have identified themselves as pro-life since Gallup began asking this question in 1995.

(source)
So over all I am in step with America, one day I hope the liberals will join in…
God Bless

In truth I need to write nothing, there is nothing I can really add to this…. But a blog is about writing, so here I go…
President Bush, at the time, was called in to check, rightly so, for spending way to much of our children’s money. But from what I can tell Obama and his administration make President Bush look like a cheep-o …. The money that he and his people has spent has not only dipped into our children’s money, but there children’s also.
In the name of progress and Change we can believe in, Obama has spent our nation into near bankruptcy. The liberals rally call of “Its all free for the taken” has devastated our budget and placed America, the once power house of the economic world, i n peril. The Chinese government owns most of our debt and at anytime could decide to call in in, for cash, The value of the American dollar is down and the moral of a nation is on shaky ground. The trust of the people in the government, whom we elect to work for us, has shifted to a distrust in a government whom we work for.
The founding Fathers of this great nation must be rolling over in the graves, looking down upon us with grim faces and asking the question that all Americans should be asking themselves “What the hell is going on”.
How did we ever get to a point in our history were we, Americans, felt that the government was meant to support us, to provide for us. Reading the founding documents, I find nothing in them that would indicate that. Reading the founding fathers, or at least starting too, I have found nothing, so far in what I have read, that would support “Big Government” . In-fact I find just the opposite, I find that the framers of America did everything humanly possible to not allow the government to get this big. They did not want a nanny state, they wanted a free society that was able to fend for itself. And a government that was to protect the borders (something Obama must have skipped over) and provide the protection that allows for our liberties. Yet as we see, the government under Obama has grown, making government more, not less, intrusive in our lives.
With ObamCare we now have a government that will decide what health care I have, who I see and even force me to purchase health care, that I, as a free person, may not want. What is next, all Americans must purchase a GM volt, or you will be taxed, and the IRS will look in to if. Sounds far off, but just a little over two years ago I thought the idea of forced insurance and the IRS checking to make sure you have health insurance was far off. So far off, it never even entered my mind, yet here it is, right in the ObamaCare bill, the IRS is the watch dog for forced heath care.
It almost sounds like one of those bad science fiction movie plots. You know the ones, were the government, in order to create a more perfect union, took over the lives of all, even deciding when they should die. You know, like the movie “Soylent Green”, of “1984”. Scary to think about, but just take a look at that ObamaCare bill, read the 2000 pages, and then look at the above budget again, and ask yourselves “Is it really that hard to believe”. Sadly, no it’s not, but it should be,
America is not supposed to look like this, this is not what the framers set out to create, somewhere along the way we got lost. We got lost in the “New Deal” and the “Great Society” rhetoric that has created a nation of dependent people. We, the people, are not supposed to be dependent on the government, the government is supposed to be dependent on us, the people. But once again, look at the graphic up top, and ask yourself, who is dependent on whom?
God Bless

The excitement for November 2nd is building, the new possibilities for our Nation, for our States, Towns and Cities. November of 2010 can be known as the day we, the citizens of America, chose to take back our Government. The day we decided that personal responsibility is more important than Government hand-outs. The day that we decided that a hand-up is what we needed all-along.
The Democratic party claimed to be the party of the people, the party with a heart, the party that truly cares for the poor and underdogs of the American fabric. Yet all there polices and actions are contrary to there rhetoric. The parry of compassion has done more damage to our Great Nation than any other national organization I know. They are quietly de-constructing the nation, one law, one court appointment, one election at a time. It’s a slow death, one that we hardly notice. It all seems so harmless, what’s wrong with a little hand-out, what’s so bad about a judge legislating from the bench, what harm is there in protecting one under advantage group over another.
Lots is wrong with it, it is a divisive tactic designed to create a class war, to create a sub-set of America, creating division with in the National fabric. And its the perfect plan for the socialistic Democratic Party that is currently in power. Divide and conquer, that’s the battle cry of the Obama administration and the democratic party. They cry for fairness, but only if it means taking form one to give to the other, the chosen ones.
America is fair, each and every person has the same opportunity to archive what they dream and work hard for, that is fair. Unfair is giving more to one who has not earned it, unfair is lowering the standards for one and not the other. Fairness is not equality of outcome, but rather equality of opportunity, and all have the same opportunity.
Sure, not all can attend Harvard, and not all should. Yes some make more money than the other, but that’s ok also. What in life is played on a level playing field, in school some got all A’s others struggle to get C’s and others have no interest in school at all and receive E’s. Is that fair? Yes, you get the grade you deserved.
But some will say, what about the poor student who studies and works hard and only gets a C. That’s tough, but that’s life. Not everyone is A material, some are just C’s. I read a story, said to be true, of a collage professor who was teaching an economics class, the students were arguing that a socialistic “fair” society was what America needed, that we had to many poor and under achieving citizens. That the rich were just to rich and the poor just to poor. The rich should give up there riches and the poor should be given the money with no effort on there part. So this bright professor decided to put into action the socialist ideals in his class. He said that everyone would receive the same over all grade, based on the class average. The students were pleased, and figured they have won the argument, and this sill, capitalistic teacher would learn his lesson. The fist test, the class average was a B. The A students were not happy, but the C,D and E students were pleased. The A students felt they deserved an A for all the hard work and effort they put in to the test. But as a socialistic class, the average was a B, so all got the same regardless of effort. The next test the average was a C. The C and D students from the last test decided that they did not have to work as hard as before, because the A and B students will carry them, so the average dropped. This infuriated not only the A students as before but also the B students, who now say there hard work going punished. As you may have expected the class average continued to drop as more and more students become lethargic and discontent. By the end of the term the whole class had proceeded to fail. Not one student passed the class, the professor stated he felt for the students, but he kept the grade as they were, and felt a valuable lesson was learned.
Hard work must be rewarded and laziness must not go on unpunished. Now please understand that I know that not all C and D students are lazy, for some it just comes harder than for others. And I know that not all A and B students have to study all night, I understand that for some it just seems to come easy. But once again that is life. Should we, as a society, demand that out athletes play “fair”, fair as in the way the democratic liberal socialistic party defines it, that all are equal or should we just accept that some teams are better than others? What fun would a ball game be if we knew that the end result would always be a tie, and all teams are in the world series, and all teams win, resulting in all players receiving a world series ring? Not much fun at all, I would rather go to the ball park anticipating a win, a good game or even an upset. At least I know that the players had to give there all, and if not, well the cards will fall were they may.
The American people have been sold an idea that fairness means equality of out-come, and that has never been, nor will it ever be fair. It is, at best, rigged, and at its worst, theft. We have robbed our society of ethics and pride and replaced it with entitlement and sloth. We have created a nation that is dependent upon the government to provide for there basic needs. But now we are even demanding that they provide for our wants along with our needs.
Obama and his comrades will bend over backwards to provide this for the American people, not because he cares for the people, but rather because the more you depend upon him, the more power he is able to take. Entailments are not free, the cost the American people freedom and freewill, they make us dependent upon the federal government for our basic needs and wants. And no were in history has this ever worked, and nor will it ever work. Look at the classroom example from above, the hardworking students were punished for there hard work and the under achievers were rewarded. The end result, all became under achievers. The last two weeks of class, the A and B students didn’t even bother to show up, they saw no point in it. The great experiment worked perfectly, when you provide for everyone “fairly” no one wins.
Fairness is not equality of outcome, but equality of opportunity. Fairness means that sometimes tome will lose and others will win. Our efforts must be rewarded and our failures must not be, the idea that all players receive a trophy at they end of the little league session is nothing but an indoctrination into the group think mentality that the socialist need to achieve there over all goal of total control over the population. America is on her way, just stop and look around, individual thought is being replaced by political correctness. We are not free to think and speak as we please, for fear of hurting someones feelings. We must be inclusive in all we do or we are considered to be phobic of some sort. Silliness has hit the American psyche and we have allowed it. We are becoming less and less American and more and more European. And that would be fine, if we were European, but we are not, we are Americans!
This November 2nd your voice must be heard, we must retake what is ours, and it all starts on November 2, 2010 and will continue until November 2012, when we vote out the socialist and vote in an American, who believes hard work must be rewarded not punished.
God Bless

(FOXnews.com) – As President Barack Obama prepares to tie a bow on U.S. combat operations in Iraq, Congressional Budget Office numbers show that the total cost of the eight-year war was less than the stimulus bill passed by the Democratic-led Congress in 2009, FOXNews.com reported Monday.
According to CBO numbers in its Budget and Economic Outlook published this month, the cost of Operation Iraqi Freedom was $709 billion for military and related activities, including training of Iraqi forces and diplomatic operations.
The projected cost of the stimulus, which passed in February 2009, and is expected to have a shelf life of two years, was $862 billion.
The U.S. deficit for fiscal year 2010 is expected to be $1.3 trillion, according to CBO. That compares to a 2007 deficit of $160.7 billion and a 2008 deficit of $458.6 billion, according to data provided by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget.
In 2007 and 2008, the deficit as a percentage of gross domestic product was 1.2 percent and 3.2 percent, respectively.
"Relative to the size of the economy, this year’s deficit is expected to be the second largest shortfall in the past 65 years; 9.1 percent of gross domestic product (GDP), exceeded only by last year’s deficit of 9.9 percent of GDP," CBO wrote.
The CBO figures show that the most expensive year of the Iraq war was in 2008, the year when the surge proposed by Gen. David Petraeus and approved by President George W. Bush was in full swing and the turning point in the war.
The total cost of Iraq operations in 2008 was $140 billion. In 2007, the cost of Iraq operations was $124 billion.

The more I read, the more I learn, the more I distrust this current administration. They are masters of deception, propaganda is there game and they know how to play it well. We have been sold a line of crap on the cost of the war, Obama and his spending like there is no tomorrow democrats are creating a crises that will bankrupt our nation.
President Bush was criticized for his over spending, and yes I agree that he spent like a democrat over his last two years, and I was not happy about that, but Obama makes him look like a tight wad, like he never spent a dime for anything. Ah the good old days…
The above Fox News article shows the reckless spending of the current administration and the democratic house. It is sickening to watch and November 2, 2010 can not come fast enough for me.
How any sane person can think they can spend there way out of debt is beyond me. Think about it, can you do that? Can any fortune 500 company do that, how about the local ma and pop owned business, can they? History has proven time-and-again that government is not the answer, that higher taxes (due in January of 2011, thanks to the no vote of congress) and more regulations don’t do it. But History has shown us the way, look at the Reagan years, lower taxies, less regulations, and more jobs, more prosperity, less people depending on the government for a living. I know, this is all anti-Obama talk, and to the left I must be a racist. Say what you like, think as you will, but history will prove me right. That is, if we get a chance to prove it.
This November 2 is a history maker, one way or another. And in some ways this election is more important than the last one. Sure in 2008 we voted in the first Black as president of the United States, and yes that is history. But we also voted in the first socialistic government in the history of the great nation, so now, in 2010we have the chance to make history again, and to vote out the socialist agenda by removing the congress and the senate and restoring the power of the government back to the people from whom they stole it from.
America is at a cross road, we will either return to the republic that we are or continue down the path to a socialistic government that will run our lives from the offices in DC. Our vote, our voice must be heard, loud and clear this November 2nd, we must stand tall and fight for what is ours. The founding fathers of this great nation did not intend for the federal government to be a nanny state, in-fact they wrote the constitution to just the opposite, it was written to protect the citizens of this great land, not to empower the federal government. The current political power players seem to have forgotten this, the supreme court has decided they know better and the American people have become lethargic to it all.
But no more! We are fired up, we are ready for the November revolution, we are ready to fight and protect the American way, we are ready to take back what is ours!
November 2, 2010 will be, one way or another historic, I just pray it is a return to common sense, a return to smaller government, sanity and power back to whom they stole it, the people!
God Bless
Paul

I am currently reading a book by Tommy Newberry, The War on Success, this is, by far, one of the best books I have read on the current state of the country, and what the Obama presidency means to America.
Mr. Newberry uses facts, passion and humor to deliver a message that all Americans need to hear. The Obama administration has declared WAR on the American way of life. They are actively undermining the innovators and job creators to help push along there socialistic agenda like no other administration in history, and Mr, Newberry lays it out in simple, fun to read English (you know the language we all should be speaking in America).
This book looks at the American dream, breaks it down and delivers a solid one two punch to the liberal social democrats who believe that the Europeans way of governing a nation should become the American way. By looking at American history, the founding fathers and other political leaders, Mr. Newberry gives a compelling voice to the conservative movement. And his faith in America and God comes through clear as a bell. You will have no doubt that he is a true American and a patriot to boot.
The War on Success should be on everyone’s reading list, a book that every teacher, union worker and politician should have to read. It is a book I will recommend to all my friends and of course to all of you. If you read one book this year on politics, I would recommend this one, Mr. Newberry makes it a fun read with plenty of chuckles and tons of hard-hitting facts and a touch of disdain for the current direction of American policies.
And for the faithful, he has included a whole chapter on God and Socialism, using the Bible to defend capitalism, making this the perfect gift for the liberal priest, rabbi or minister you listen to each week. Using quotes from the bible and saints he defends the American way and makes the argument for prosperity and profits.
I will soon finish reading Mr. Newberry’s book, The War on Success, and I know I will be a better American because of it.
God Bless

I just wanted to share the link below concerning the American poor. Based on my travels to countries such as China, Brazil, India, I would have to agree with the commentary below.
GOPUSA » Commentary » Sherline: Poverty Hype
Mr. Rector also observed, "Many of the popular conceptions about poverty in this nation are inaccurate, particularly the image of poverty as a static and unyielding condition………..We have not only triumphed over poverty as it was historically understood, but that triumph has been so great that we have difficulty remembering what it meant to be poor or even to be middle class in earlier generations." His study concluded:
Today the typical American, defined as poor by the government, has a refrigerator, a stove, a clothes washer, a car, air conditioning, a VCR, a microwave, a stereo, and a color TV. He is able to obtain medical care and his home is in good repair and is not over-crowded. By his own report, his family is not hungry and in the last year he had sufficient funds to meet his essential needs. While this individual’s life is not opulent, it is equally far from the popular images of poverty conveyed by politicians, the press, and activists.
The above text is taken from the the article linked above. I think the problem is that Americans have become use to the idea that they are entitled to own “things” that it is no-longer acceptable to earn what you want, that someone, anyone including the Federal Government should provide all the comforts that we enjoy.
The poor are not truly that poor, compared to the poor of the world. Now some will say, stop comparing our American poor to the worlds poor, this is America. And I agree, but I would have to say we should use that for all of Americas concerns.
Stop comparing our education to the worlds education, stop comparing our healthcare to the worlds, stop comparing our national securities issues with the worlds.
If the standard of the poor does not apply to America, than why should anything else?
Yes we have poor in America, and yes, it is inexcusable in a country as blessed as ours. But lets be honest about what poor truly is. I mean really, do a poor person really have cable TV, internet access and cell phones? Really, they have food on the table and, as we all know, the American poor have comforts that many of the worlds middle class do not enjoy. Lets look at the issue of the poor in a light of truth. Lets set our resources on the true poor, not the “marketable” poor.
America has made an industry out of the poor, only in America can the poor purchase a house, only in American can the poor purchase a new car. Come on think about it… Are they truly poor, or are they just upper lower class or lower middle class?
This election, we as Americans, have a fundamental choice to make. Do we continue down the road of the nanny state or do we take back our country, and return responsibility back to her citizens, like it should be. Do we continue to “entitle” people to prosperity or do we allow them to define there own path, to work for and to achieve or fail at prosperity?
Do we allow the American poor to be used for political gain or do we truly lift up the poor by offering them a hand up, not a hand out. America is a country of opportunities, not a country of redistribution. The ability of every American to archive or fail is the same. America protects the rights of each and every American to pursue happiness, it does not and should not guarantee happiness. The American poor have the opportunity to education and healthcare (despite what the Obama administration would have you think) they have the ability to reach for the stars like any other American. Sure, some will make good and others will not, but the same can be said for America’s rich. The ability to fail is also guaranteed in America, failure is part of life, as is success.
If America is as poor, be it monetary or fairness, as our politicians would have us believe, than why do millions still flock to this country, why do we not see a mass exodus? Why don’t the American people pack up and leave America for a better life, a life were it is more fair to the poor and more opportunities are provided. Basically because there is no other place to go. America, with all of her issues, is still the beacon of freedom and opportunity, despite the rhetoric of Mr. and Mrs. Obama, I am and always have been proud of my country and the opportunities she offers to all.
The American poor, the truly poor, deserve our help, but we must define the poor in the light of truth, not in the light of votes!
Just something to think about….
God Bless

I love to read, I read books, magazines, newspapers and anything else I can find to read. I love to read different types or styles from Stephen King to Bishop Fulton Sheen. Give me a Catholic book, magazine or newspaper and I will read it. I have read the liberal press and the conservative press. I just love to read. Most people I know read for enjoyment, not to expand their knowledge base, not to learn a new fact or verify a teaching, they just read to be entertained. Me, I read knowledge, I read to grow my mind, my understanding and my ability to process information. I love to find new facts or expand my understanding of what I already know. It doesn’t matter what I am reading, for the most part, with very few exceptions, everything I read teaches me something. I will admit that at times I just want to read, I don’t want to learn anything new, I don’t want to grow, I just want to read. And when that feeling hits me I pick up one of my “car” books, books I have that I place in my car for emergency reading, like when I have a doctors appointment or decide to go out to eat on my own. My “car” books are mindless pocket books, detective type stories, no moral message, just good old fashion 1930’s style detective books. They are good for a fun and easy read, so they make perfect “car” books. But mostly I read to grow…
This fact is nothing new to anyone who has read my blogs before, I often talk about reading and relay some interesting fact along from what I have read. Well this posting is no different, except instead of a fact to pass on this time I am going to pass on a concept, an idea I read. I know I have blogged the same idea or concept along before, but sometimes you just got to keep beating the same drum. Over the weekend I was reading through all my Catholic newspapers I get, it seems that Saturday and Sunday are the only days I get to read them… So I am always playing catch up on the weekend. But be that as it may, I was reading my favorite Catholic Newspaper, The Wanderer, by the way if you do not subscribe to this paper, do so now, it is by far the best paper I have read. What makes me like it so much, it is only 8 pages, the news is conservative and it always has interesting articles. But back to what I was saying, I was reading The Wanderer and ran across an article about abortion, they always includes a pro-life article or two in each weekly paper, this article used and example of how truly ridicules the liberals can be when it comes to there pro-murder stance with adoration. The author used the example of how the government is deciding to regulate soda pop in schools. In-of-itself not a bad thing, but is it truly something the government should be concerned with, is it not more a parenting issue? I think it is, but the liberal government seems to think that they are charged with the health and wellbeing of your child, and they have to look out for and care for them. Once again, as a conservative I feel it is up to the parents and the community to decide if soda pop should be allowed in schools, along with candy bars and pizza and any other unhealthy items. But our Big Brother Government has decided we are to stupid to deal with it. But our government, who is so concerned about our child’s health and well being will allow that same 12 year old, who can not get a soda to get an abortion. Stop and think about that…
Government will not allow soda pop but will allow murder…
Government feels children should be “protected” in schools from harmful things, such as soda and candy, but hands out condoms to 5 year olds like it was candy…
Government requires a parent to be present and notified for an under age child to get an ear piercing or tattoo, but allows a 12 year old to get a major operation to abort the baby, with out parent notification…
Government states that you, the parent, are responsible for that child until they turn 18, yet they undermined your authority at every step of the way. They decided that it is ok for your under aged child to murder another human being, they decide that soda is harmful, yet murder is not.
The article in The Wanderer made the simple comparison of soda banning to abortion, the rest was mine and the list is endless. The nanny state is growing in the country and we, the American People, are allowing it to do so, We are tossing our hands up in the air and allowing the Obama administration to do as they please. Our freedoms as parents and care givers are being striped away, one silly law at a time, our freedoms as law abiding adults are being minimized with each passing day, yet we do nothing, Why? Why do we do nothing, why do we just sit back and allow this to happen? Because we have been sold a bill-of-goods that sounds utopic in nature. We have been told that they care for us, they know best for us, and and by the way here is some money… They have purchased us, and we are becoming powerless, complacent and sedentary. Shame on us, shame on the Catholic Bishops of the United States for not teaching the truth boldly and loudly! And why don’t they, why are the silent on most issues, because most of the Bishops are in the pockets of the liberal Democratic Party of this great nation. Sure they state they are pro=life, but not to loudly for fear that the Democrats may hear them. Sure they write there papers and event send them to the press, but the liberal press will use it only to degrade the Church.
Our Bishops should be marching on DC, demanding that abortion be abolished, that our children should be protected from Planned Parenthood should not be allowed to be in contact with our children. Our Bishops should be teaching and informing the faithful and the true teachings of our faith, the Church established by God. Our Bishops should be speaking out against the Obama administration and its efforts to allow millions of illegal immigrants to gain entry into this country, a act that has nothing to do with compassion but everything to do with the 2012 election. Our Bishops need to take a stand for the faith, the true faith and not some liberation theology version of the faith. And if they refuse to do so, they should leave the church and find one that represents there version of the truth. Harsh I know, but that’s how I feel most of the time. I do not understand Catholics who disagree with 90% of the teachings, yet remain Catholic. Our Bishops need to hold the Catholic politicians feet to the fire of truth, calling them in, confronti
ng them with the truth and forcing the issue at hand. Basically our Bishops need to stand up and be men, be the voice of the Church, the voice of Christ calling out in to the wilderness and calling His sheep back in to the fold. They need to stand tall and strong in the face of deception, toll the line of truth and fly the flag of our Church, The Church established by Jesus Christ, the visible Church here on earth.
The more I read, the more passion I get for the Truth, for the Faith. The more I learn the more love I have for my Church and Her teachings. I may not understand them all, and I may wish at some of Her teachings were not, but that is a human problem, my problem, not Hers. Reading provides me with the ability to discover the truth, in my own time and way. Be it Stephen King or Catholic Answers Magazine, The Truth will shine through the pages. The Truth will set you free, a lesson we all need to learn and relearn on a daily basis. The Bishops would be smart to remember this, and to teach this truth.
Please know that in no way do I assume that all Bishops are failing in there duties. Most are, i assumed, good and holy people. But over all the Catholic voice in America is silent, and that voice belongs to the Bishops. Yes Catholic laity and priest and other religious have a duty to proclaim the Good News to all the ends of the earth, but it is our Bishops who should be leading us, teaching us and guiding us.
God Bless
